As an active partner in many of our investments, Newlight draws upon the many years of investment and operating experience of our investment team to help build successful companies. Complementing the support provided by our investment professionals, our portfolio companies often benefit from the advice and access available through our large network of strategic investors, advisors and industry contacts.

We believe that management is responsible for leading the company, not the investors, and is the most important factor in a company's success. As investors, we view our role as advisors and counselors to management. In select circumstances, members of the Newlight investment team have the operational experience and ability to perform more active responsibilities to maximize shareholder value.

• Raising additional equity or debt financing
• Identifying and accessing strategic and/or corporate partners
• Evaluating and negotiating acquisitions, sales or mergers
• Strategic planning
